Slow Cooked Beef Stew. Me and hubby are really plain eaters and as soon as I see a recipe involving ingredients I’ve never heard of, I get a bit overwhelmed. My Nan used to make the most amazing stew. You only had to step through the door and the smell would hit you. But unfortunately I was too young to learn how she did it. After a lot of experimenting I’ve finally got what I think is the most perfect and simple stew!
Throw everything into the slow cooker, you can make as much or as little as you want so these are my ingredients:
-Diced Beef (browned first if you wish)
-1 x chopped onion
-3 large carrots
-3 celery sticks
-1 x Small can of chick peas
-New potatoes
-2 x beef oxo cubes with some beef granules thrown over the top if you wish
-a splash of Worcester sauce
-just enough boiling water to cover the ingredients
-a small amount of cornflour
Directions:
Mix together & cook on high for 4 hours with a lid cover or tea towel stopping any excess water.
I do the same for a chicken casserole minus the chick peas and use chicken stock instead of beef.
